Black and Blue Quarter Horses

Claude Lipscomb, founder of www.blackandbluequarterhorses.com, has a long family history with both horses and cattle. Born in 1942, while the American Quarter Horse Association was still in it's infancy, he spent his childhood watching his grandfather, Edward P. Lipscomb, and his father, Ira Lipscomb, raise the best horses available in their area. It was on these horses that Claude learned to appreciate and love how a well- bred horse could turn the difficult task of working cattle into an easy and enjoyable one.

Claude's philosophy behind breeding is simple: Breed smart and gentle horses. A horse gentle and intelligent enough to work cattle will be equally well-suited for many other types of work and recreation.

While we are partial to black and blue roan quarter horses, color is not the top priority in our breeding program.

Devin Spivey is responsible for all "nuzzling" that occurs on the ranch. While his dexterity is still lacking, it has been determined that he will be able to lend a helping hand once he gets everyone unwrapped from around his fingers.
